Hey guys! Today I thought I would post about Sugarfina, which is a luxury candy brand. They produce sweets such as gummies, jelly beans, and chocolate. My mom loves purchasing candy from this company. Recently she bought two small boxes of gummies, pictured below, and I will be talking about my view of this brand. One of the main reasons why my mom loves this brand is because of their Hello Kitty collection. She would even go as far as to spend $8.50 on each box. Yes, you heard me right. Each small box costs around $8 to $9 dollars. However, Sugarfina incorporates some really special flavors into their candies. For example, there are gummies flavored like alcohol, including a champagne flavor, and a rosé flavor. My personal favorite is the apple pie flavor of the hello kitty gummies pictured above. I recently tried some that were pear flavor, and those were pretty decent as well. The packaging is simplistic and minimalistic, which is something that I really appreciate. Look at how sleek the box looks, the perfect right angles, and the little sticker sealing it on top. Sugarfina also has cool packages that you can customize what candy you want. My mom recently got the mailbox one. Pretty much, you choose whichever two candies you want, and they'll send it in a cool mini mailbox that you get to keep. This is worth it if you get the candies that are originally more expensive, because the mailbox package is set at a price, no matter which candies you get. Pictured below is the mailbox. Anyways, this time my mom got the butterfly gummies, and the hello kitty head gummies. Like I mentioned before, the hello kitty ones were flavored like apple pie, but it's really just an apple flavor. As for the butterfly gummies, from what I can tell, the flavors are lemon, lime, strawberry, and another type of berry that I can't quite discern. Unfortunately. on the Sugarfina website, they don't list the flavors of the butterfly gummies, so this is purely from what my taste buds can tell. But they are quite delicious, though. Once I start munching on them, I can't stop.
Some of the past boxes of gummies we got (of which I unfortunately do not have my own pictures) include the strawberry Hello Kitty gummy bows. We also got other types of candies, like the chocolate pearls. All in all, it is quite expensive, and I wouldn't say that this is worth the purchase. But I think as a one time thing, just for the experience of the flavors and the nice packaging, it's alright. I can see why the brand is attractive to those like my mom, and makes them want to spend money on these products. Thanks for reading my short take on Sugarfina. Happy Sunday!

Hey guys! Recently, my school hosted its annual winter dance. However, you all know I never attend these events. Instead of going, my friends and I decided to treat ourselves to a night out. It was a really wild adventure full of twists and turns, and I thought that night was interesting enough to blog about. Let's start. I went out with four others: two girls and two boys. Let's call them Mary, Jessica, Bob, and Joe. The girls decided to get ready together, so right after school, we drove to Jessica's house, and spent about an hour changing, and doing hair and makeup. I wore tights underneath my dress and rolled them up since my dress was on the shorter side, and of course we don't want any slip ups. The girls also collectively agreed to wear high heels, because hey, what other chances would we have to do so? I wore some pretty heeled knee long boots. After we were done with this, we had to drive back to our school first because Jessica had to get something from her locker. I underestimated the difficulty driving with heels on, and it was only a two minute drive, but let's just say that I'm never driving in heels ever again. Learning from this experience, I drove to Bob's house after our trip to our school without shoes on, which was by far, much easier. Anyways, at his house, we took a bunch of pictures of just us girls together while waiting for both Joe and the Uber we called to show up. We agreed to meet at Bob's house at 5, and it was already 5:10 at the time. So we called Joe, and it turns out that he took an hour trying to figure out how to put his tie on, but failed, and he was currently walking to Bob's house. Keep in mind that his house is about a 15 MINUTE walk to Bob's house, so it took ages for him to show up. He arrived sweaty, tired, tie in hand. Bob helped him put his tie on, and even by then the Uber still hadn't arrived (because we live in a traffic heavy area, and the time we were trying to leave at was the peak of the traffic). Anyways, the Uber came at 5:30, and we were off to the restaurant we reserved seats at (or so we thought) called Left Bank, located in Santana Row. Our reservations were at 6:00, and we were nervous that we weren't going to make it. On the Uber, I found out that I got accepted into SDSU early. I screamed when I saw that email. I felt a wave of relief and a huge amount of stress lift from my shoulders after I received my acceptance. Mary opened her email, and saw that she got accepted early as well in the same school. It was a nice ride to the restaurant, to say the least. Our Uber driver drops us off at Menlo Park, only - wait a minute - weren't we supposed to go to Santana Row? Santana Row is a 10 minute drive from Menlo Park. Why did he drop us off here? Turns out that Mary - who was in charge of Uber - chose the Left Bank at the Menlo Park location! We went inside, talked to the host, and thankfully, they still gave us a table. But major yikes. That could have been such a fluke, but good thing they still had space for us young, innocent kids. We order, and thank God, the food is decent, contrary to my expectations. That could have been because I read the reviews pertaining to the location in Santana Row, but we enjoyed the meal fully. I ordered salmon; below is the picture! After dinner, we decided to walk around a bit before grabbing some dessert. Bob spotted a really pretty Christmas Tree on the way to the restaurant on the Uber, and we walked in that direction. We took some pictures, and headed into a nearby bookstore to warm up. It was when we walked to get dessert when the next major mishap happened. Dessert was between Cold Stone, which was only 0.1 miles away from our location at the time, or a place called Midnight Munchies which was 0.3 miles away (or apparently it was. It ended up being about a mile away...). We all know that Cold Stone serves ice cream. Midnight Munchies, however, was a cookie shop, and the cookie photos on Yelp looked amazing. So we decided to walk over to Midnight Munchies. The journey there was not fun. Like I mentioned above, the place ended up being a mile away, and keep in mind that us girls decided to wear heels. It was not as painful for me or Jessica because I was wearing heeled boots, and Jessica wore wedges. For Mary however, she stuck with a classic high heel, the heels that are thin like a stick. It was a horrendous walk for her; she complained of sores and blisters on the bottom of her feet. So we get to the location, but we don't see the shop. Mainly because Yelp said that the shop would be in the middle of the park, and we did talk about it being sketchy, but decided to go anyways. The area was dark and deserted (or should I say, DESSERTed??), with minimal lighting, but hey, we walked a mile for this, so we might as well check it out and try to find the place, you know? We explored the park, but of course, couldn't find the shop. Disappointed, we made our way to a local Safeway, and called for an Uber. On this Uber, I had to climb to the very back of the car, and I bumped my thigh really hard on the seat. I still have the bruise, and I would provide you all with a picture of the lovely bruise, but I think it's a little too much. After that adventure, we went back to Bob's house. I changed out of my heels, threw on a nice comfortable coat, and rolled down my tights. Bob's dad made us mocktinis as well, consisting of crushed berries, cranberry juice, lemonade, and sparkling water. Here's a picture: It was 9:30 PM, and we played Settlers of Catan (a board game, for those of you who aren't familiar) until 11, which was my curfew. Unfortunately, a game takes about 2-3 hours to completely finish, so we weren't able to close out the game. We said our goodbyes, and I left to take Mary and Jessica back to their respective homes. And that was the end of my crazy, fun night.
A few days later, Jessica messages our group, and reports her tragic findings. Midnight Munchies was not a walk in cookie shop; it was a delivery company. We were hysterical, as we risked our feet for that trip, but we honestly should have seen this coming. All in all, these instances made the trip highly memorable, and honestly, everything happens for a reason, right? It was a really fun night. Hope you all enjoyed reading, and happy Sunday! Hey guys, welcome to part 2 of my boba series! Today, we're going to focus on milk teas. I can't wait; let's get started! 1. TP Tea First, I'd like to talk about the location, and not the actual tea. TP Tea is located in Cupertino, which is about a 30 minute drive - without traffic. However, there's always traffic. It's right in the middle of the bay area, for goodness' sake. So normally, it takes about double the time it takes to get there to go back home - over an hour. That being said, the only times I drink TP Tea is when I'm in the area, or when my parents are there (because my dad owns properties and he's usually traveling around to these cities for work) and they bring the drinks back to me. Oh, and I forgot to mention: on good days, you'll have to wait at least 30 minutes for your drink. They are really, really popular, and the customer line often wraps outside and around the store. But honestly, the milk tea is worth the wait. I love their classic black milk tea, and contrary to most other boba shops, they put more emphasis on their mini boba than on their regular size. In most places, I also don't like the oolong milk tea, but here, it's probably my favorite, and I like it better than the black milk tea, by a tad bit. Their teas are fresh and really strong, and definitely not watered down. Anyways, I could go on and on about how great this place is, but we have other places to talk about, and showcasing this store is making my mouth water for some of their boba. Let's move on. 2. Sharetea Sharetea is much, much closer to my house than TP Tea, only a five minute drive away, and it's definitely not a bad alternative. I'd say that out of this list, Sharetea in terms of flavor and quality is the most similar to TP Tea. They give plenty of the tapioca pearls in the drinks as well. The last time I got Sharetea was probably a month ago, but their teas are always on my mind. I think I'm going next weekend with some of my friends, so that'll be really fun! 3. Meet Fresh I mostly go to Meet Fresh for their yummy desserts, but their milk teas are excellent as well. It's sweetened perfectly, and the tea flavor is really strong. They also have so many different toppings, including taro balls, almond pudding, and jelly noodles. My dad recently bought about 200 dollars worth of gift cards for this store, because that's just how much we love going here. 4. Who's Tea Who's Tea is in my top 5 even though their milk tea is actually quite different in terms of flavor than the three other shops I have listed above. Their black milk tea almost has some sort of a nutty flavor to it. However, the tea is still quite tasty. Whenever I go there, I find that their sweetness levels are a bit less than the other shops, so I always get 100% sweetness here as opposed to 50-75% that I usually get. Who's Tea is a really cute place to hang out at because their logo consists of a mustache! This is in reference to their mustache teas, which means that the tea comes with foam, which after drinking will leave a foam mustache on the drinker! I personally have never tried them. However, my brother always gets the Black Mustache Milk Tea, and he tells me it tastes like chocolate flavored milk tea, and that it's really delicious. Fun fact: I tried getting a job at Who's Tea, and I even went to an interview for them. But they never contacted me back (LOL). 5. Milk and Honey Milk and Honey has one of the largest cup sizes I have ever seen offered at a boba shop. You have to add a dollar to get the largest size, but it honestly feels like double the regular. The above image shows just that. Their milk teas are pretty good as well. It's smooth and fresh.
Hope you all enjoyed the second part to these series! I love boba so much, so I absolutely had to blog about it. Happy Sunday! Hey guys! First off, I want to say that I wasn't able to get a post out last Sunday due to this period of time being extremely stressful for me - college applications! I just recently submitted my UCs, and I am now done with the college application process forever (hopefully). Something that I love to de-stress with is boba. I am actually addicted to this stuff. Contrary to my early new year's resolution post (you can find it here) I really have went against that goal. In fact, during Thanksgiving break alone, I got boba six times. In eleven days. Yes, I know that's a lot. And no, I honestly don't regret it. I thought it would be appropriate to write a post about my favorite boba places. In today's post, I will be including my favorite shops based on their fruit teas, and I will post one based on milk teas next week. Let's get started! 1.) Happy Lemon Happy Lemon is definitely one of the best boba spots to grab some fruit tea. My absolute go to drink is the Kumquat Lemon Green Tea. It's one of the most refreshing drinks I have ever tried. It comes with lychee jelly included in the price, and even a whole real kumquat pit. What's also great about Happy Lemon is, just like in its name, the lemon teas! They have fresh lemon teas which, contrary to a lot of boba teas I have, actually makes me feel healthy and good about myself. Happy Lemon is probably the tea shop I visit the most out of this list of my top five. 2. SuperCue SuperCue is another one of my favorite shops to visit. I've recently been buying the Passion Fruit QQ everytime I go there. Basically, it's a passion fruit green tea with boba and lychee jelly included. They also have an option where you can combine any tea you want with any flavor. What's great is that they have a wide selection of teas to choose from. What I mean is that instead of just one general black tea, they have assam and earl grey, and the same goes for their green and oolong teas. 3. Q Tea Monster Q Tea Monster has something really cool: split cups, and dolphin shaped jelly. I love split cups because often times, I find that there are so many teas that I want to try at a shop, but I don't want to buy two drinks and ingest all of that sugar, you know? Split cups are perfect. Their actual fruit teas have a natural flavor. I don't go to Q Tea Monster very often as it's about 20 minutes away from where I live, but whenever I do go, it's always a blast. Something funny is that I remember that I would always take my SAT and SAT Subject Tests in that area, and every time I would go to this shop afterwards as a sweet treat. 4. Freshie Tea This tea store recently opened up, and it's only a 2 minute drive from my house. They have something called a whole lemon tea, which is a lemon tea, but they also put in a whole lemon in there, and it's really, really refreshing. I love their mango green tea as well, and I always get that paired with some strawberry heart shaped jellies. Their grapefruit green tea is one of my favorites too. Also, it doesn't hurt that my friend works there, and I get a sneaky little discount! 5. Factory Tea Bar Factory Tea Bar is essentially the only shop where I get my beloved strawberry teas from. They even have a strawberry kiwi flavor, which is something I'll be trying the next time I go there. They have a ton of fruit flavors, including green apple, guava, and orange, flavors that aren't normally associated with boba teas, such as mango or passion fruit.
Those were my five favorite boba shops! Once again, I'll be doing a milk tea edition next week. Happy Sunday! Hi guys! I'm so excited for today's blog post. I recently got a new phone, the brand new iPhone XR in yellow! I've had this phone for about two weeks now, and I'm in love with it. My previous phone was the iPhone SE in rose gold, and I was perfectly fine with it, except that it started getting really slow and glitchy the last few months I had it. I've already owned the same phone for two years, so I decided that I needed a change. I personally prefer smaller phones; however, Apple didn't come out with the SE 2, which was something I was highly anticipating. I did feel bummed, but I thought to myself: bigger phones are the future, so I better start getting used to that.
I found out about the XR and all the colors Apple offered along with it. I was debating between white, red, or yellow. Finally, I wanted to be spontaneous, so I went with the yellow. I don't regret that decision! The banana yellow is extremely gorgeous. I really adore the new functions that the XR has that my SE didn't, such as the animojis, face ID, and the overall design is much sleeker; the entire surface of the phone is a screen. The animations are much more unique as well; for example, something as simple as the change in how the wifi symbol pops up at the top of the screen makes a big difference in the overall display of the smartphone. Surprisingly, I got used to the large size quite quickly. In fact, when I had the phone for a few days, the trade in kit came, and I was prepping my iPhone SE to ship in. I picked up the phone, turned it on, took one look at the screen, and was amazed at how small it was to the point where I felt like couldn't really press the buttons anymore. I actually wondered how I was able to live with that small of a screen. Of course, I bought some AirPods as well. This was exciting because I actually bought the AirPods with my own money, the cash I made from working at my job. In fact, this was the first purchase I made with my own money, so it was a pretty big deal. I felt great after I pressed the "confirm purchase" button to officially buy the pair of AirPods. Well, there's my new phone! I'll be keeping this bad boy for another two years or so. Hope you enjoyed reading! Happy Sunday. Hey guys! My mom recently came back from her Asia trip. She traveled to Taiwan and Hong Kong, and I personally love shopping in Asia because they have the cutest stuff. Their items always have the really adorable packaging and in general, they have so many stationary and quirky cosmetics stores around the area. So you understand why I just had to ask my mom to pick up some stuff for me! Let's begin the haul. By the way, items purchased in Hong Kong will be in red, and those bought in Taiwan will be green. My main priority was card holders. I really wanted a new card holder because I attach one to my set of keys, so that I can hold my driver's license and a credit card, since I don't usually carry a wallet around with me, but I'll basically always have my keys to drive my car. My old one was torn and beat up, and didn't hold my cards well. My mom ended up getting six. The left-most picture includes the two that are horizontally oriented while the rest are vertical. As you can tell, I really like Kakao Friends. The "bear" is named Ryan in the brand. The reason I put quotation marks around "bear" is because Ryan is actually a lion without a mane. Anyway, Kakao Friends are my current obsession. One card contains Hello Kitty, and Hello Kitty has always been one of my favorite characters. The other two are of a brand called Sumikko Gurashi, something I've never heard of before, but I thought the characters and the design were really cute so my mom picked those up as well. The theme of Sumikko Gurashi centers around food and cute little animals. Next up is stationary! Let's start with the very left: the calendars. I always have a physical calendar on hand for the year, because I like to use colorful pens and highlighters and mark up the pages with all my events and plans. My mom got two: a wall one, and a table one. In the middle, my mom got some Kakao Friends clothespins, and a huge Hello Kitty paperclip. I'm planning on getting string and clipping on all the clothespins, so that I can attach cute pictures and memories on my wall. Speaking of pens, I got a whole lot. I got two brands: Line Friends (middle), and again, Kakao Friends (right). The Line Friends ones are black ink, while the Kakao Friends ones are blue ballpoint pens. My mom also bought a pen that is cupcake and sweets themed and it smells like cinnamon! On the very right of the picture are stickers! All of them are from the brand Sumikko Gurashi. Moving on to possibly my most favorite items from this haul: skin care and cosmetics. And, of course, all of them are from, you guessed it! Kakao Friends! First, the three tubes up in the left hand corner are lip products. Ryan (once again, the lion without a mane) is apple flavored and has no pigment. Apeach (the peach figure one) is peach flavored and is a light shade of pink. Muzi (the rabbit looking creature who is actually a pickled radish disguised in a bunny costume) is cherry flavored and is red. My mom also bought some more Apeach products. In the middle are the hand cream and body soap. These two products came with a really cute cosmetics pouch. In this picture, it's right next to those Apeach products. On the right are some really pungent soaps. They are watermelon, pineapple, and mango. The mango one is by far my most favorite. Time for some random items! On the very left is a beautiful Hello Kitty pink coaster. My mom also got some really adorable Kakao Friends plushies.
That was it for the Asian goodie haul. As you can tell, my haul centered around Kakao Friends. I love the brand so much; their characters are really, really cute. Hope you guys enjoyed the post! Happy Sunday! Hey guys! I'm trying something new today. Welcome to my first ever Kpop album review. We're starting off with Stray Kids' I AM YOU, which was released on Monday, October 22nd (USA date). Since I've never done one of these before, I don't really know if there's a certain way I should order or structure it, so I'm going to improvise. Let's get started. First, let's talk about Stray Kids. Stray Kids debuted THIS YEAR in march. They're pretty young; the oldest member is 21 years old, and the youngest is my age, 17 (in USA years. In Korea, they would all be a year older). They've been getting pretty popular lately, and I first heard about them in July. Alright, here's a list of the tracks: Here's my ranking of each song in the album, aside from the introduction song, "YOU".
I'm going to talk about each song. Let's go in order. 1. I AM YOU This is the title track of the album, and it's my favorite song right now. I have it on repeat! The lyrics are beautiful; the song is about unity and togetherness. The song is saying that with you by my side, I'll be able to achieve greater dreams. The chorus is "I am you, I see me in you" and also "I found you, I found me in you" which means that we're all alike and facing the same obstacles. Yet we fit each other perfectly and we must always stay by each other's sides so that we're never alone. Like most of their other songs, the rap and vocals blend perfectly together, with a perfect balance between the two. It doesn't hurt that the chorus is incredibly catchy and has a sweet melody. 2. MY SIDE MY SIDE is one of the most interesting and unique songs I have ever heard. It starts off slow and soft, and about twenty seconds into the song, there's a really catchy beat drop that leads into the rap. I thought the song was really weird at first, but I listened to it a couple more times and I really started getting into it. This song seems especially personal, more so than the other ones. The reason why is because the first lyrics are "I hope this song's lyrics reach your ears" which seems like they're talking to the listener and their fans personally. The other lyrics talk about how even at our worst points, they will always stand by our side. They're once again calling for unity and building a support system for one another, and to give each other courage. In this way, the meaning of the lyrics are similar to "I AM YOU". 3. N/S OPPOSITE is basically an all rap song, and it sounds really good. The general message is that we shouldn't be indecisive, and we shouldn't doubt our decisions. There are two sides to life: either you work hard or you don't. The beat is fresh in this song, and overall it's chill music. 4. 0325 This is a really fast paced song, and the chorus could be an anime introduction song. I don't know why, but it has that beat and feel to it that a lot of animes have in their title scenes. All of Stray Kids' songs contain beautiful lyrics and well thought out meaning, but I especially like this song. The reason why is because they're talking about how we'll keep going up until we reach our dreams and the pathway to those dreams is becoming clearer everyday. We aren't going to stop until we reach our goals, and if we fail, we try again. And of course, they have a smooth and cool transition from their rap to their vocals. What a bop. 5. GET COOL I like the flow of this song, but the lyrics aren't as meaningful as some of their other songs. Don't get me wrong; I still love this song and I know that not all songs can have that, but since all the other songs in this album do, I'm going to have to dock some points off, you know? Anyways, that's mostly why it's second to last. It's such a happy, fun song. The song expresses that we should live in the moment and day to day, and not worry too much about what's happening tomorrow. It's also about how we don't need much to live a genuine life. Chan's "getting cooler" at the end of the song is also pretty iconic in my eyes. 6. HERO'S SOUP This song shouts innocence to me. Before I get into that, this song is really unique in this album, because it doesn't contain much rap. Also, it's slower than the other songs. The meanings are quite different too. This song paints a picture in your mind, creates a story. It talks about a father drinking a spicy soup everyday in the morning to cure his hangovers. The lines leading into the chorus are repeats of "I didn't know anything," which leads me back to the innocence that shone in the song. However, by the end of the song, they start to understand, as they repeat the lines "which is why I know, that's why I'm able to understand." I'm sure there's a deeper meaning to all of this, but since I'm depending on english translations, I didn't really pick anything up. Alright guys, that was my short review. Honest to god, I LOVED all these songs in the "I AM WHO" album. Whenever I'm in the car, I always set up playlists so that I can jam out to music, and all these songs are always in those playlists. Stray Kids are a bright and young Kpop group, and I hope that if you didn't know who they are, you want to learn more about them after reading my review. Happy Sunday! Hey guys! This week was my school's Homecoming Week. Usually, Homecoming weeks center around the school's football team. However, my school's football team was actually dissolved three years ago, when I was a freshman. We still continued the tradition, however, because Homecoming, in my school at least, is WAY more than about football. In fact, football really wasn't the main thing people looked forward to at my school; we all eagerly anticipated the themes, decorations, skits, and performances put on by each of the classes. The performances include singing, Bollywood, Kpop dancing, and even martial arts. It's really fun and amazing to watch everything come together. Each class has a day in the week to perform. Mondays are for freshmen, Tuesdays for sophomores, Wednesdays for juniors, and Thursdays for seniors! Each class also has a different theme. Freshmen chose to perform a skit about Monsters Inc., sophomores chose Beauty and the Beast, juniors picked Black Panther, and the seniors picked Spiderman. We alter the storylines to fit in with our academics, school culture, and society's current events, often bringing up the SATs, AP tests, Donald Trump, and other subjects. Parent judges evaluate each class. The Friday before the actual Homecoming week, we had an assembly to get us all hyped for the upcoming week. That assembly consisted of a skit put on my the homecoming administrators, and the displays of the homecoming court nominees (king, queen, knight, and jester). As for class colors, freshmen are blue, sophomores are yellow, juniors are black, and seniors are red, and we wear our colors everyday during the week, except for Friday. On Friday, we wear green for unity. Since Homecoming Week is all about each of the classes competing for first place, the last day is dedicated to unity as a school. I'd like to take a second to talk about some senior traditions, since I am a senior myself this year. We create something called a senior lounge. Here's a picture: On the day of the freshmen performances (Monday), we also gather at 7:30 AM at school to walk around the school for a good ten minutes screaming our chants, including "meme team nineteen", "one nine fresh and fine," and "hoo-hah you wish you were a senior". It's really, really fun. For the upperclassmen, we also have dress up days. It's the same themes every year, but the themes are different for the junior and senior classes. For seniors, Mondays are either nerd or senior citizen, Tuesdays are either toga or hippie, Wednesdays are superheroes of your choice, and Thursdays are class shirts (which I designed for my class this year!) Like I said before, it's different for the juniors: Mondays are for pajamas, Tuesdays are formal, and so on. Here were my outfits for each day of the week: Monday: nerd Tuesday: hippie Wednesday: superhero (I didn't have any superhero gear, so I made a flash emblem and taped it on my shirt. Super jank, but hey, it works.) Thursday: class shirt (As you can tell, I really love wacky socks.) The Friday night of the same Homecoming week, we also have something called the Homecoming Extravaganza which is a casual dance. I wouldn't even call it a dance, because everyone who goes just gathers around the outdoor amphitheater with a DJ playing music. There's food, bouncy houses, photobooths, Dance Dance Revolution, and much more. I personally never go to these things; that's just me. The event is also where they announce who won Homecoming court, and also which class did the best with their skit, decorations, and performances! This year, seniors came first in all the categories. Overall, seniors were first place, sophomores were second, juniors were third, and freshmen were last. Now, here are some pics of senior day! Morning of senior day - getting decorations ready! Kpop performances! And our amazing decorations in the back, just look at all the awesome backdrops. Seniors' last homecoming. The last 10 minutes of the performance, all of the seniors run up on stage, jamming out to music and chanting our spirit chants.
I was super happy yet really sad on senior day. I was eagerly anticipating our performances, but I knew that this was the last time I would partake in something like this. When all the seniors convened on stage, singing "See You Again" by Wiz Khalifa (which coincidentally, Furious 7 was our theme for freshmen homecoming, so the song's message itself and the meaning to our class relates a lot to our last day of homecoming), I started crying, A LOT. Actually, tears started welling up in my eyes when our skit ended, because our skit writers referred back to a lot of our memories of our past homecoming performances, and the messages that were laid out were just sweet and wholesome in general. But up there, with all my classmates, singing and swaying together, feeling extremely united, amplified my feelings and emotions. I'm going to miss interacting with my classmates every day, the people I've grown up with for 6 years now, beginning in middle school when we all first met each other. It's pretty sad thinking about how I'm never going to see most of these people ever again. I'm honestly not ready to leave my high school and all the people I love! But again, like I emphasized in a lot of my posts about college, I'm really excited to be embarking on this new chapter in my life next year, and hopefully I meet some wonderful people and make more great memories. And hopefully my class of 2019 will host some rad get togethers in the future so we can gather and reminisce about our high school experiences. That was it for today's post. I hope you all enjoyed reading it. Happy Sunday! Hey guys! Today I thought I'd share my experience with my weight and how I shed 10 pounds in a month. Let's begin.
Before summer, I weighed 121 pounds. I maintained this weight by exercising twice a week and eating moderately. I was actually pretty content with my weight and just wanted to keep it like that. Anyways, I started losing weight in July when I went to Las Vegas. The reason why is because at Las Vegas, I would really eat one complete meal a day, and I would also average 6 miles everyday of walking while I was there. Of course, we all know that Las Vegas is SCORCHING hot, so I sweat a lot there as well. I lost five pounds in a week which was scarily crazy and really unhealthy. But after this, I started getting really obsessed with my weight, and wanted to lose more. Unfortunately for me, all the weight I lost at Las Vegas came back when I went on a cruise at the end of August (LOL). I knew it would happen though so I wasn't surprised. The last time I worked out in a legit sense was on the cruise. I haven't worked out since. But since the cruise, which was about a month ago, I've lost ten to eleven pounds. I currently weigh 110-111 pounds; it varies day to day. So without working out, how did I lose that much weight? It's really all because I got a damn part time job. And also because of a change in my diet. Let me explain. I work at a boba shop as a cashier and barista. Since school started (I'm a senior in high school, in case you don't know), I've only been working the night shifts. In those night shifts, a big part of the shift is cleaning the shop when we close. There was a lot of physical strain involved; I was constantly lifting heavy items like chickens from the freezer and big bags of creamer. I mop the entire store as well. Whenever I work these shifts, I tend to eat a lot less as well. Most of the time, I would only eat one complete meal a day, because my shifts are from 5 PM to 10 PM, and I would usually get home at 10:15. When I get home that late, I really don't feel like eating much, because I would be going to bed immediately after. In general, when I don't have work I'll eat a hearty dinner consisting of rice, meat and veggies, but on the nights that I do have work, I'll skip the rice and just eat a bit of meat, but mostly veggies. Also related to my diet is what I now eat for breakfast and lunch. Prior to my senior year, I would eat leftovers for breakfast (usually carbs) and a meaty sandwich for lunch. Now, I eat oatmeal and only bring fruits and veggies to school for lunch, including carrot sticks, tomatoes, and grapes, and occasionally I'll bring some protein in the form of cashews or sliced turkey. After school, if I'm hungry I'll grab some leftover veggies. As you can see, I'm really cutting down on the carbs and the amount of meat I'm eating, and all this definitely contributed to my weight loss. In this way I cut down on my calorie intake, especially on the days that I'm working. I'm eating healthier and also "exercising" at work due to all the physical activity of making drinks and lifting heavy items. So everything combined lead to me losing weight! Hope you enjoyed reading. Happy Sunday! In my previous blog post about my bookcase (you can read it here) I mentioned that I would be doing an updated tour if I ever got a new bookcase. Well, today's that day! I got my new bookcase over the summer at Ikea. Here it is: It's a black wooden bookcase. Now, guess how much it costs. Are you ready? It was only 18 dollars. Yes, you read that correctly. 18 dollars. Isn't this such a steal? It's sturdy, good quality as well. Alright, let's start with the top shelf. I have a white tray with a tissue box, and a colorful tray with my snacks inside. Let's move on to the second shelf. I have my Harry Potter series stored here, as well as my Anna and the French Kiss series. Divergent sits in between the two sets. As you can see, these books were bought separately, and not in a box set. That's why I reserved my book stands for these series. Finally, I have some of my super adorable plushies I got from Japan. The duck is actually a character named Sally from the Line Friends company. The octopus is just a random octopus, LOL! The cute heart background is what I did personally to spice things up. Let's move on to the next level. This, and the next level as you will see later, contains all my boxed set books. The Selection series, the The Infernal Devices, as well as The Mortal Instruments are located here. I have a cute blue rabbit plushie here too. Onto the next level! Some more boxed sets are located here. My Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Heroes of Olympus, and Legend series are all here. We're finally at the last level. I keep all my yearbooks here. Some of my childhood favorites, including The Dork Diaries series, Diary of a Wimpy Kids series, and Big Nate series are all new additions to this bookshelf that I didn't have in my old one, because I didn't have space there. This bookcase is much much bigger so I could afford doing this.
I'm so so happy that I got rid of that old shaky bookcase and bought a new one. Hope you enjoyed the tour! Happy Sunday! |
