Hey guys! For today's post, I decided to showcase the (very small amount of) books I own and how I organize them. Before I continue, I just want to clarify that my blog is by no means a blog about books and reading. To be honest, there's not really a set subject or theme; I really just blog about the topics I like. So this post is just for fun! As you can see, these shelves aren't your average bookcase. I actually used to put some of my clothes in there. They're more like containers because they're detachable, yet they're stackable, so when I actually got a drawer for my clothes, I moved some of my books here. I always keep my Hello Kitty slippers there, and I have a Heroes of Olympus poster on the wall next to the bookcase as well. I'm planning on purchasing an actual bookshelf sometime soon, so when I do, I'll be posting a little "glo up" post here on the blog. Get excited for that! I put slits of cardboard on top of each of the levels because the shelves itself are full of holes and I felt that it wasn't really stable and I wanted my books to be up straight, so the cardboard helps with that. These aren't all the books I own; I also have my own collection of comic, diary style books such as Big Nate and Dork Diaries, which I don't read anymore (I like to just look at them from time to time, maybe skim a few pages, to reminisce about the old times) and so I keep these in a closed off shelf. Here's a picture: Okay, back to my actual bookcase! It stands right there and I have a nice little couch right next to it, so I can easily grab a book and plop down immediately to start reading. A little disclaimer: my books really aren't organized in any sort of way. Most of them are placed where they are due to space issues. On the very top, above my actual books, I have things like snacks (for when I'm hungry, it's conveniently located right there) and tissues (when I'm crying tears of sadness reading the books, of course). Here's a close up: Moving on to the third level (of three!). I have my Harry Potter series, each book was purchased separately, so that's why it's not in a boxed set. Personally, I prefer boxed sets over individual books, but these books are actually my dad's copies, but he let me have them. If it was up to me I would have definitely gotten the boxed version! Then I have Divergent. I'm planning on getting Insurgent and Allegiant soon, but they'll have to be purchased separately because I already own Divergent. Sort of a bummer, but I'll live. In the front, I have my Kane Chronicles! Again, NOT A BOXED SET!! I did buy them together but they were wrapped in plastic and there was no box at all when it was shipped to my house. Besides the books, I also have my cute little octopi! I got the red one in Japan, and the green one my friend gave to me. Here's the middle level. I have The Selection Series, the first three books I purchased as a box set, and the last two I purchased individually. I also bought a book of short stories about the characters of the same series, called Happily Ever After. Moving on, I have my Legend series! Finally, a book series where all the books are in a box set together. Then I have my Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and in the front, Heroes of Olympus. There's one book missing from the boxed set and that's because my brother is currently reading it, so let's just pretend everything is there, okay? Oh, and, by the way, here's a post I wrote about Percy Jackson and the Olympians, if you want to check it out: https://hellamel.weebly.com/blog/my-favorite-books-1-percy-jackson-and-the-olympians (My Percy Jackson and the Olympians series is behind Heroes of Olympus) Here is my second to lowest level. My 2 series about Shadowhunters are located here, including The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices. I'm going to get The Dark Artifices once the third and final books comes out, and a boxed set is available to purchase (again, I need my boxed sets!) I also have the three books to the Anna and the French Kiss series. Finally, this is the lowest level. I don't actually put books here; my yearbooks get their own little space down here. I also chose to put them on the lowest level since these yearbooks are pretty heavy, and I didn't want to overstrain my little shelf, which would have inevitably happened if I had decided to place them somewhere else. Since it's on the bottom, it kind of grounds the bookcase as well. The orange things are a pair of metal book stands that I got from Daiso. And that was it! These books are my absolute favorites; I'm planning on writing about them in some future posts!
Hope you all enjoyed reading it. Again, my bookshelf is kind of a fixer upper, and I'll probably be getting myself a new one, but for now, it absolutely does work. Happy Sunday!
